Diggin in the crates: vinyl vixens 09/08/2011
Took some photos of some great vinyl album covers while browsing through some vinyls in a local shop in Vancouver. Click on the pictures to enlarge. The inspiration for Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl? Her knee is so high up you can see her knickers.
1 Comment Emmalyn - My My My Feat. Spot & Ess MV 08/19/2011
Just released. Emmalyn Estrada featuring Spot & Ess in their Motown-inspired track entitled My My My. Another solid track from Spot & Ess. These boys are a real good look for Vancouver hip hop. Soul Company - The Gift MV 08/08/2011
Really feelin the vibe of this cypher-style song and they all goin IN on this one! It's from boys from Soul Company, an underground Korean hip hop label. The song is called The Gift and it's from the The Amazing Mixtape that was released last May. The first guy on the mic is Kebee, one of the founders of the label. He's pretty sick. MC Jin - 立立乱 MV 08/08/2011
MC Jin's new full-length Cantonese album entitled 回香靖 (Homecoming) was released today. One of better songs on the album is 立立乱 (Chaos). In this song MC Jin does a conscious rap song describing Hong Kong's society. That beat is hella sick and it was produced by Doughboy from 85up2. Check out this beatbox battle between two of the sickest Asian beatboxers: Dharni, representing Singapore, versus krNfx, representing Canada. They were battling at the Emperor of Mic Beatbox Battle 2011 in Graz, Austria. Dharni took this battle. Kevin Linney - Keep Movin MV 07/19/2011
Kevin Linney hit me up and asked me to check out his song, Keep Movin, which salutes the art of emceeing and freestyling. The song was inspired by Common's I Used To Love H.E.R.. It's got a Neo-soul kind of beat, a nice hook, and a great message. Really feelin this one because you can tell that Kevin's a big fan of hip hop music (look at his hip hop album collection for goodness sake!). Spot & Ess - Smile Through The Madness 07/16/2011
Here's a new track from Spot & Ess (formerly known as D-City) called Smile Through The Maddness. The beat, produced by Ess, makes me feel like doing evil shit....lol. Thaikoon - YUNG RUK TUR / ยังรักเธอ MV 07/15/2011
Here's easy-listening song dedicated to the ladies entitled ยังรักเธอ (I Still Love You) from Thaikoon's THAIKOON MIXTAPE VOL. 2 - STRAIGHT OUTTA BANGKOK: RATED X released in January 2011. The song is a bit cheesy but it's likeable. Thaikoon is a Thai-American hip hop / R&B group based in Los Angeles, California. They formed in 2007 to bring LA-styled hip hop to Thailand. Something like how Uptown was to Korea when they first started, but this is with a Thai-American flavour. Zeebra - Blue feat AI MV 07/15/2011
Zeebra, one of the OGs of the Japanese hip hop scene, has released his latest music video entitled Blue, featuring Japan's "Queen of Hip Hop Soul", AI. This is the first time these two artists collaborated together. And man... what a POWERFUL SONG especially with AI's vocals!!! The song is a commentary on the evils of war, the earth, and love for humanity. Produced by DJ YUTAKA & SWING-O a.k.a. 45 of YS-11. The single is coming out on July 27th. Thai - Alone Tonight 07/13/2011
454 Life Entertainment dug out this song, Alone Tonight, from the vaults. This is one of the first songs Thai did after signing with the label. Thai did his thing in the song, no doubt. The guy who sings the hook sounds like he's from the 80's. Haha. This song is available in an MP3 download. More exclusive tracks from Thai will be released in anticipation for his new album. |
